Most people experience coffee only at the final moment — when it is poured into a cup. Everything that came before, the landscapes and the producers, the cafés and the rituals and the decisions of a hundred people who never meet you, has already happened somewhere else, quietly, without witness.
We believe coffee is one of the world's great cultural artifacts. Our work is to help people see it that way.

Behind every coffee is a landscape. A family. A harvest. A difficult decision. A tradition passed from one generation to the next. Too often those stories disappear long before the coffee reaches the café — and what arrives is a commodity where a culture used to be.
The people disappeared first. Then the places. Then the reasons anything tasted the way it did.
Goat Cherry was founded to reconnect those threads — not through nostalgia, but through discovery. Every app entry, every expedition, every conversation with a producer is another thread pulled back toward where coffee begins.
We are not building a customer base.
We are cultivating a habitat.
A place where curiosity is rewarded. Where extraordinary cafés become lifelong memories, where farmers become friends, where craftsmanship is celebrated, and where conversations linger long after the coffee is gone.
Underneath it sits a simpler conviction: that attention is an act of respect. To slow down. To notice. To ask better questions. To learn the names of places and the people behind the work. Learning to see is one of the highest forms of gratitude.
Our identity reflects that. It is designed to feel quieter than the industries around it — more like a field journal than an advertisement. When we face a decision, the question is not "what is most impressive?" but "what is most appropriate?"
Everything Goat Cherry does — the app, the expeditions, the writing — passes through the same sequence. It is the closest thing we have to a method.
Goat Cherry cultivates a habitat where people can discover coffee culture, participate in it, and — over time — help preserve it. The expressions of that mission will evolve. The mission will not.

We are building slowly, and on purpose. One producer. One café. One expedition. One story at a time. Some things cannot be rushed, and trust is one of them.
My background spans sociology, humanitarian work, military civil affairs, and years spent sitting in cafés asking questions of people who had no particular reason to answer them. What those experiences share is a conviction: that every community has stories worth preserving, and that most go unrecorded simply because nobody thought to ask.
Coffee is where those interests converged. Goat Cherry is what happened next.
